Chapter 31 Repeated Visits
Chapter 31 Repeated Visits
Gordon appeared in Levi's hospital room in less than three minutes.
"Hey buddy, I'm so glad you're okay!"
Seeing that Li Wei was in good health, Gordon was very happy. "I've been busy with the aftermath and haven't had time to come see you."
"Alright, buddy, there's no need for such formalities between us. Gotham's safety should be our top priority."
Seeing Gordon's apologetic expression, Levi tried to comfort him, "Tell me about what happened that day. What exactly happened afterward?"
"After you fell into a coma that day..."
Gordon sat down on the sofa in the hospital room and told Levi everything that happened next.
After the ship docked, Gordon rushed to the Previtt Building.
At the entrance of the building, he saw Batman and the Joker.
After rescuing Li Wei, the Joker didn't choose to run away, but instead got into the police car...
"You mean, the Joker has joined Arkham now?"
After listening to Gordon's account, Li Wei looked astonished.
"Yes, the Joker is in Arkham right now, and he has a gift for you."
Gordon said, pulling out a beautifully wrapped little gift box. "I just found it at the door."
After receiving the gift box, Li Wei was a little confused. What kind of trouble was the clown up to now?
"I haven't opened the gift box, so I don't know what's inside. Do you think we should have it tested first...?"
Before Gordon could finish speaking, Levi had already untied the ribbon on the gift box.
After what happened last time, he didn't think the Joker would go to great lengths to deal with him.
As soon as they opened the gift box, a clown doll popped out, startling the two of them.
Looking at the clown doll shaking incessantly, Li Wei didn't know what to say. This was something that clown was capable of doing.
Take out the clown doll. At the bottom of the box lies a tape recorder and a card, a card with a colorful Joker drawn on it.
Gordon was taken aback by the unexpected gift, but Levi knew that the Joker wouldn't do anything pointless.
He took out a tape recorder, pressed play, and heard the clown's somewhat crazed voice.
"Mr. Li Wei, my fellow human being, I am very happy that you will hear this recording."
I'm sorry about what happened last time. I didn't expect Batman to be such a reckless guy. I was just trying to joke with you.
To be honest, your surprised expression pleased me greatly.
Gordon was completely bewildered by what the Joker said, but Levi knew that the guy was talking about the Previtt Tower.
Despite losing to himself, this guy casually grabbed a detonator and claimed there was a bomb in the building, which led to what happened next.
If it weren't for my damage immunity, I probably would have had to restart right now.
"I did lose to you this time, but I didn't lose to Batman..."
I plan to reflect on my actions in Arkham, and if the time is right, I will challenge you again.
Consider the cards a small gift. Finally, here's a little hint for you.
"Although I've joined Arkham, my work is still in Gotham. Good luck!"
The Joker's words contained a lot of information, and Gordon didn't quite grasp it at first.
"What does it mean that the Joker's works are still in Gotham?"
Gordon looked puzzled and muttered to himself.
"How is Harvey now?"
Li Wei's mind raced, and he realized what was happening, so he asked about Harvey's whereabouts.
"We haven't been able to find Harvey since the last hospital explosion."
Gordon was taken aback by Levi's words, then looked somewhat dejected. "The police are currently mobilizing all resources... why are they suddenly asking about Harvey?"
"The Joker's work is most likely Harvey Dent's!"
Levi's words made Gordon's expression freeze, and his breathing slowed down.
...
After seeing Gordon off, Levi rubbed his head in frustration.
Looking at the colorful Joker cards in the gift box by the bedside, Li Wei didn't know what to say.
This guy went to Arkham to reflect on his actions, but left behind a mess.
Having arranged to report to the police station with Gordon the next day, Levi gazed out the window, intending to thoroughly recall the plot involving Harvey.
Before he could even begin to think, there was a gentle knock on the door.
"Gordon, dropping things isn't like you..."
Li Wei turned around and was stunned when he saw who it was.
"You...what brings you here?"
"What, you're not welcoming me?"
Serena Kyle, also known as Catwoman, felt a sense of triumph as she looked at the bewildered Levi.
She used to find this guy to be so confident and in control every time they met, which annoyed her. Now she felt that coming today was worthwhile.
When the last riot broke out, she did not return to her old ways of robbing the rich to help the poor after separating from Li Wei.
Instead, as if by some strange twist of fate, he followed Levi to the Previtt Building.
When she saw Li Wei fall from the rooftop and tried to save him, she realized it was too late.
What happened next felt surreal to her, but she was also very happy that Li Wei had survived.
She had been silently watching Li Wei all this time, and when she saw Gordon come over today, she knew that Li Wei must have woken up, which led to what just happened.
"Of course you're welcome, beautiful Miss Serena."
Li Wei smiled at the catwoman and gestured for her to sit down and talk.
In the Gotham world, Catwoman is not a vicious person at all; on the contrary, she is quite attractive.
Today, Catwoman is wearing a black suit that accentuates her sexy figure.
"I said, why do you like wearing black so much?"
Li Wei poured a glass of warm water and handed it to the other person, then couldn't help but ask the question that had been bothering him.
Li Wei's words stunned the catwoman, leaving her somewhat at a loss for words; she didn't know how to answer Li Wei's question.
Because of her background, she was a troubled girl from a young age and considered herself to have long been accustomed to the hardships of life.
Those she came into contact with were all vicious and ruthless individuals.
Li Wei's words made her feel extremely uncomfortable.
If I had to describe that feeling, it would be like she had been fighting gangsters on the street for three days and three nights, and then Li Wei asked her if her eyes were dry.
Although the feeling was absurd, it gave her a strange feeling she had never experienced before—a feeling of being noticed.
"Hmph, mind your own business!"
Li Wei was also stunned when he saw the arrogant catwoman.
This image... seems quite different from the Catwoman in his mind.
Just as the atmosphere in the ward was becoming increasingly strange, there was another gentle knock on the door, instantly dispelling the odd atmosphere.
Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at the door.
"Please come in."
"Oh, Levi, my hat fell here. I picked it up and then..."
Gordon walked into the ward, explaining why he had returned.
But when he saw the catwoman sitting on the sofa, he swallowed back the words he was about to say.
"Oh, sorry, buddy."
Gordon gave Li Wei an apologetic smile, while wearing an ambiguous expression that said, "I've been there, so I can attest to it."
"If you have personal matters to attend to, then take a few more days off. You can always work."
Watching Gordon grab the hat and leave in a hurry, and the door he thoughtfully closed behind him, Levi was at a loss for words.
