Chapter 81 The Rift
Chapter 81 The Rift
The vice principal looked at Liang Jiu but did not immediately refuse.
"The divine power manipulation you used to construct the chair was truly remarkable," the vice-principal commented. "In terms of the precision of your manipulation alone, you've already reached the threshold of a third-level god. Learning the deeper uses of the divine realm ahead of time shouldn't be a problem."
"The core of creating special connecting fissures is not space, but cultivating the divine realm itself, allowing the gods to begin controlling it. Conventional divine realm connections are direct collisions between two independent spaces. If you learn to use divine power to continuously penetrate and nourish the soil at the bottom of the divine realm, it can, like roots, actively extend and connect to the boundary of the target divine realm."
"Once combined, it will not only create hidden rift passages, but will also be extremely effective in defensive battles. The gods will have much more control over the divine realm."
The man opened his palm, and a wisp of light condensed, then transformed into a tiny speck of light the size of a fingernail, which floated toward Liang Jiu and hovered in mid-air.
"The theory and basic methods are all in there. These are advanced techniques that theology graduates would only come into contact with and learn when they actually start working. At your current pace, it wouldn't hurt to master them ahead of time. I'm guessing many other students are already practicing them."
Liang Jiu reached out and grasped the light spot.
The light entered his palm, and the flow of information flowed into his mind along with the divine power. It was all the insights and deductions of other gods. He just didn't expect that this technology would be kept so well secret. Even at the God Seed stage, he was completely unable to access it.
"Thank you," Liang Jiu said.
"Time is running out, let's end this exchange here. The big exams outside still need to continue," the vice principal concluded.
The surrounding void began to distort.
He took control of the testing divine realm, and countless pillars of light lit up below, each pillar corresponding to a temple. They were connected to form a huge pattern, symbolizing the totem of a second-level god.
The mere existence of a totem is enough to control divine power, with repulsive forces pressing in from all directions.
Liang Jiu took one last look at the wasteland below. Divine light descended, and Xin Cang's squad, along with the surrounding steel formation, vanished in the light, all being sent back to the Xin Clan's territory.
Then, darkness swallowed up all vision.
When my senses returned, the cacophony of voices from the playground filled my ears, a cacophony of noise and shouts of someone's name.
Liang Jiu stepped out. The fresh air of the present day rushed in, and he was surrounded by qualified students who had finished their tests. Some were pale and covered in sweat, while others chatted excitedly with their companions, clearly having just experienced completely different battles and achieved different results in the extreme test.
The host, whose mouth was big, retreated to the back of the platform.
On the huge holographic screen directly in front of the playground, a red data stream cascaded down like a waterfall, performing the final settlement.
A few seconds later, the rankings were finalized.
Su Cheng remains in first place, and Chen Xueqi is in second place.
Liang Jiu found his name in the fifth line.
The ranking was as expected. After all, both he and Su Cheng had entered the testing realm, and the kills inside wouldn't count towards the score. Furthermore, the defensive forces remaining in his own realm weren't exactly elite, so their efficiency in killing the invading monsters couldn't be very high.
Fifth place is a good result, securing a high seed in the next round of the tournament.
The results of the extreme test are not important; what matters is the subsequent arena battle.
Not far to his side, Pan Xiaopang was struggling to climb out. He rubbed his sore neck, looked up at the light screen in mid-air, and a relieved expression appeared on his round face. He was ranked thirty-second, and had narrowly passed the passing mark, keeping his qualification for the internal exam.
A sound came from the radio.
"The results of the extreme test are finalized." The Big Mouth Clan member stepped forward again, his voice trembling. "All qualified participants, rest for thirty minutes. Then, the arena draw will officially begin!"
The rankings on the screen became the only focus on the playground.
Pan Xiaopang recovered and moved closer to Liang Jiu. He glanced at the list, first letting out a sigh of relief for his 32nd place ranking, then his gaze shifted to the top.
"Chen Xueqi is first, Su Cheng is second." Pan Xiaopang stroked his chin and began to analyze, "It seems that the extreme environment of the divine realm does have an advantage in this kind of defensive battle. I heard that the outer perimeter of her territory has been completely transformed into an extreme cold ice field. Those sand wolves probably didn't even see the faces of her followers before getting lost in the blizzard. They just relied on the terrain to score points. It's really comfortable."
"However, that's because of the special nature of her family members; they can survive in that kind of environment. If it were someone else, they might not be able to do it."
"That's true, Liang Jiu. We're all too mediocre in adapting to an environment where humans are our companions. But I didn't expect Su Cheng to be second." Pan Xiaopang lowered his voice. "Logically speaking, with a level two companion in his hands, it wouldn't be difficult for him to take first place. He was holding back during the external exam, and he probably didn't go all out in the test just now. He's probably saving his trump cards for the upcoming arena match."
Liang Jiu did not agree.
He knew perfectly well why Su Cheng was ranked second. Halfway through the defensive battle, Su Cheng's consciousness and main force were also not in his own territory. The system clearly hadn't included the results of the battle in that area of divine territory in the regular score.
As they were talking, Su Cheng walked through the crowd ahead.
The god, who was clearly part of a wolf pack, was all alone.
Su Cheng stopped when he passed Liang Jiu's location.
The two looked at each other.
"See you in the ring." Su Cheng left these four words and headed straight for the seeded players' preparation area.
Pan Xiaopang watched Su Cheng walk away, then turned around, puzzled, and asked, "When did you get involved with him?"
"We just happened to cross paths," Liang Jiu said casually, then turned to the important matter, "How's your druid doing? Were those grey horses affected?"
When his family was mentioned, Pan Xiaopang immediately forgot about Su Cheng and grimaced with some regret.
"Don't even mention it, those gargoyles falling from the sky were impossible to defend against. And my druid priests' anti-air capabilities were poor, but luckily I moved all the resources into the caves beforehand. So far, only a few dozen have suffered minor injuries, nothing serious."
"As long as our combat strength remains, that's fine," Liang Jiu said.
As time went on, the atmosphere in the rest area became increasingly polarized. Most of the students ranked lower looked dejected; their divine resources had been severely depleted in the previous defensive battle, and they had given up hope for the upcoming matches, with most already planning to forfeit.
The 30-minute break ended quickly.
The monster that was hosting the event returned to the platform. Its trumpet-shaped maw opened, and a deafening roar once again filled the entire arena.
"Rest is complete! Attention all qualified personnel!"
The deep red vocal cords trembled in the white mist.
"The draw for the arena match begins now!"
