Chapter 92: GLASS

Chapter 92: GLASS

Amelia’s katana sang through the air with a sharp sound as she drove it downward.

The attacker leaned back, letting the blade graze his cloth.

He spun, delivering a kick straight towards Amelia’s rib.

Amelia ducked beneath the kick, her body moving to his left as she planted her free hand into his face.

His body flew through the kitchen, smashing against the dining table before coming to a halt.

The table broke into splinters and fragmented planks under his weight.

Slowly, he raised his head from the pile of wood that lay above him.

Amelia was already before him, her leg already blurring towards his face.

Boom.

The kitchen floor shook as the attacker caught her leg with his hand.

The power behind the attack sent a tremor that travelled from his palm to his spine.

Under the forceful tremor, he could not help but wince in pain.

Amelia pulled her leg back, bringing her sword down in the same breath, towards his head.

He parried once again, with the back of his palm.

The earth beneath him caved in, a web of cracks spreading from that point outward.

He moved.

Pulling a sharp piece of wood from the broken ones beneath him, he drove his hand forward, towards Amelia’s jaw.

Aether, raw and unadulterated, flared along the wood’s surface as it neared.

Amelia leaned back, calmly.

The wood pierced through the space where she once occupied.

She retaliated with her own attack, driving the tip of her katana downward towards his chest.

He rolled away, letting the katana pierce into the wood beneath him.

Amelia turned to the right, where the attacker had just rolled to.

She somersaulted, her body moving before thought could catch up.

A silver trail passed through where she occupied.

The attacker looked back at Amelia as she landed.

He held the chef knife tightly in a reverse grip as he lunged again.

Amelia reacted, her katana catching the blade of the knife.

Sparks flew as metal slid against each other.

The attacker threw the knife to his other hand, bringing it downwards towards Amelia’s shoulder again, this time with lethality and precision.

She sidestepped.

The knife hacked down, cutting through the space where she once occupied.

A grin was on the attacker’s face as Amelia sidestepped.

A sharp blade appeared in his foot as his leg tore through the air, creating a loud bang as it reached for her rib.

Amelia’s body dipped in a full split, letting the attack pass over her head.

She bounced back up before her body reached the floor fully.

Her leg rose upward, towards the attacker’s groin area.

He caught the leg with his palms pressed against each other.

He looked at her and squinted his gaze.

"Really?" He asked.

Amelia had moved though.

She did not care for his shock, her body twisted to his side, knee raised to deliver a kick to his rib.

The attacker leaned back slightly, then drove in with his own kick at her stomach.

Her body folded inward from the impact, then her breath hitched as all the air in her lungs were kicked out.

The attacker followed up with another kick, his leg rising as it smashed into Amelia’s jaw.

For a moment, the attacker remained silent as he watched Amelia try to get up from the floor.

"So, who is the punching bag now?" He asked as he neared her, knife dancing in his palm.

Amelia replied with a smug smile.

"You should have told me that pained you," she said.

The attacker’s face turned red.

"Let’s see if you can still keep that smile after I kill you."

As he said those words, he brought his dagger down, towards Amelia’s head, aiming to cleave her in two.

She rolled, standing up in the same motion.

The attacker looked at her.

He slashed in a wide arc immediately.

The knife whistled forward, tearing towards her torso.

Amelia caught the attack with the flat of her blade, her body skidding backward, only coming to a rest against a cabinet.

The attacker seized the opportunity fully.

His knife began to cut, slicing through the air in a wild, erratic manner.

Amelia ducked, the knife slashing through one of the glasses in the cabinet.

He slashed downward this time around.

Amelia caught the attack with her blade.

Her body shook as the weight pressed against her.

Her free hand trailed the cabinet behind her, fingers closing around something cold and smooth. Without hesitation, she swung it forward, thrusting towards the attacker’s head.

Aether surged along the hand as it closed in.

The attacker noticed.

He withdrew, moving his knife to block the attack.

The glass in Amelia’s hand shattered as it smashed against the chef knife in the attacker’s hand.

That was all she needed.

Her other hand moved in a blur, pulling the katana down and thrusting upward.

Flesh and bone gave way as the katana pierced through the chest till it met a squishy organ.

Without mercy, Amelia pushed the blade through, twisting it with a calm face.

She pulled her katana out instantly.

The attacker’s eyes widened as he stared at Amelia with shock.

His hand moved as if on autopilot to cover the gaping hole in his chest.

The attempt was futile, blood poured out of the hole like a fountain that had decided to pour out all of its water.

Amelia had long since left his side.

As she walked outside, she swiped a serviette from the cabinet.

She looked back again.

The attacker had collapsed to the floor, lifeless with no light in his eyes.

She turned back, walking towards the exit as she wiped the blood on her katana with the serviette in her hand.

"Why is the house so quiet?" She finally realized.

She walked through the door but saw no one outside.

Even the Veritas Corps members who were always patrolling were nowhere to be found.

"Is it related to the Crimson Fang?" She wondered again.
