Chapter 196 Knight's Squire
Chapter 196 Knight's Squire
Chapter 197 Knight's Squire
Christopher earned Jerry's approval with his excellent combat skills and successfully entered the second round of testing.
After dark, Jerry blindfolded the fifteen men he had chosen and led them to a camp. Peter, dressed in plate armor and wearing a closed iron helmet, examined them.
"Do you sincerely wish to join my ranks and become members of the Knights of the Silver Dawn?"
Peter smiled and asked them.
"We are willing!"
The fifteen candidates responded in unison.
"Ding! Christopher Odlin's favorability rating has reached 60. He has voluntarily joined your ranks. Do you wish to accept him?"
"Ding! Mad Dog Hogg's favorability has reached 60. He has voluntarily joined your ranks. Would you like to accept him?"
"Ding! Wolf the Hungry Wolf's favorability has reached 60. He has voluntarily joined your ranks. Would you like to accept him?"
Peter nodded in satisfaction. Seven out of fifteen people had reached the initial favorability target, which was good.
"We, the Knights of the Silver Dawn, are a righteous organization founded to fight against the Hungarian invasion. We help the common people and fight against the Hungarian grain requisition teams; we help the nobles and prevent them from being extorted by the Hungarians; we shout that we will not pay taxes or levies, and we will not let a single grain of rice or groschen fall into the hands of foreign invaders. One day, we will drive them out of Bohemia!"
"Oh, Peter the Wasp's favorability rating has reached 66. He has voluntarily joined your ranks. Would you like to accept him?"
""
"Ding! Justin the Red Spider's favorability has reached 60. He has voluntarily joined your ranks. Would you like to accept him?"
"Ding! Blue Lightning Brienne's favorability has reached 60. She has voluntarily joined your ranks. Do you wish to accept her?"
Five more have reached the required favorability rating, and why is there a lady among them?
Peter looked at the blue lightning bolt, who was wearing thick armor and a closed helmet, and had a slender build.
Peter looked around at everyone and continued, "We will not harm civilians, nor will we rob merchants. The spoils of war after defeating the enemy must be handed over and then distributed uniformly. But I will pay everyone a salary, one Grossen per day. I'm giving everyone a week's salary in advance now as a welcome gift."
After Peter finished speaking, Jessica began to hand out money to the fifteen people. Some people were overjoyed and put it in their pockets, some happily rubbed and played with it, some didn't care at all, and some held it tightly.
"Ding! The tomb raider Pollock's favorability has reached 60. He has voluntarily joined your ranks. Would you like to accept him?"
Peter sighed, looked at the last two people who hadn't reacted, and said, "It's a pity. I gave you three chances, but you didn't seize them."
If honor, ideals, and money cannot attract them, then their purpose in coming here is highly questionable.
"What?" The last two were completely bewildered, not understanding what Peter was talking about.
Peter swiftly drew his sword, and with two quick slashes, the blade sliced across the necks of the two unsuspecting men, their heads falling off and blood gushing out like a fountain.
This horrifying scene left the thirteen newcomers speechless. Peter drew his sword, struck, and sheathed it so quickly that before they could react, the two men were already dead.
"Sir, what is this...?" someone asked.
"Just dealing with unqualified spies."
Peter opened his helmet, revealing his true face, and said, "I am Peter Griffin, leader of the Knights of the Silver Dawn, codenamed Prince Brunswick. I am a God-blessed knight with eyes that can see through everything. Congratulations on passing the test, and welcome to the team."
"Slap slap slap"
The surrounding knights stepped forward to applaud.
The thirteen qualified men were relieved to hear Peter's real name. The fact that such a core secret was being shared with them clearly showed genuine acceptance.
As for the two people who had just died, whether they were real spies or deliberately made an example of someone, they had forgotten about them because Peter's next move completely shattered their worldview.
Peter ordered the thirteen men to kneel on one knee, then drew his sword and struck them several times on the head and shoulders.
May God give you strength to uphold your beliefs; may God give you courage to face all challenges; may God give you wisdom to distinguish between loyalty and treachery, good and evil.
The thirteen people felt as if they had been electrocuted; their souls were cleansed and their bodies were strengthened.
"Ding! Christopher Odlin's loyalty +10"
"Ding! Peter the Bumblebee's loyalty +10."
"Ding! Tomb raider Pollock's loyalty +10"
Their loyalty soared. At this moment, they were absolutely convinced that the Silver Dawn was the sword God had used through Lord Peter to dispel the darkness. How fortunate they were to have joined such a team!
"Your current position is squire, responsible for leading spare horses, dressing armor, cleaning weapons, and assisting in battle for full-fledged knights. Feeding and caring for the horses will be handled by other support staff. Understand?"
"clear!"
Peter then stretched out his hand and conjured up sets of chainmail, plate armor, longswords, and shields, which he gave to them.
"Squires do not receive white cloaks and white horse robes; you will only receive such treatment once you become full knights."
Now, go find the knights you need to cooperate with, and give yourselves a nickname you like.
Having received their equipment, the group witnessed another miracle and were overjoyed, resulting in another surge in loyalty. Veteran members like Jesska and Hynik each selected a new recruit to serve as their squire.
Young Christopher approached Peter and bowed gracefully, saying, "Lord Peter, I am Christopher, son of Sir Audrin. I heard my father and other nobles speak of your deeds at Trostich long ago, and I greatly admire you. I never imagined I would be able to serve under you. May I follow you?"
"Hehe, kid, don't even think about taking my spot."
Black Bartosh and Eric were getting anxious. This made Christopher somewhat embarrassed.
Peter chuckled, defusing the situation, and said, "According to my plan, each official member of the Knights will be accompanied by two squires, fighting in groups of three. Black Bartosh and Eric, as veterans, you must take on the responsibility of leading the younger generation. We will need to recruit more people later, so you can confidently lead your squads. This young man will stay by my side as a standard-bearer."
"Yes, sir." Blackbatos and Eric reluctantly agreed. This close confidant had only been in office for a few days before losing his job. It seemed that the new generation was indeed surpassing the old.
Young Christopher became excited and quickly bowed to Peter in gratitude.
"Thank you, Mr. Peter..."
'
"From now on, call me Prince Brunswick in public. My whereabouts cannot be revealed for the time being."
"Understood, Your Highness. You may call me by my nickname, Blonde Chris."
"Chris? That matches my name perfectly, hahaha!" Peter laughed loudly, seemingly having made a connection to something.
Chris, not knowing what Peter was laughing at, scratched his head dumbly and laughed along.
The tomb raider Pollock's cunning personality caught the eye of Jerry the Rat, who took him in as a servant. Pollock also readily offered up the Holy Grail treasure map.
"The Holy Grail? And a riddle poem?"
From the summit of Twin Peaks, one can gaze upon the celestial path; pilgrims embark on their journey.
Crossing the canyon to the very edge of the land, drinking from the sweet spring grants eternal life.
"Why are there so many riddle-solving people?"
